Steve is originally from Oklahoma but has spent most of his life in the Rockies and Southwest, where he has been heavily influenced by American Indian culture, Old West values, and the belief that nothing worthwhile comes without a love of family, commitment to friends, concern for worthy causes, and the results of hard work. After graduating with High Honors in Political Science from the University of Wyoming in 1973, Steve interviewed with State Farm agency recruiters and began his career with them in the Four Corners region of New Mexico the following year.
